CEO and Founder of Blanket Fort Hope.
Born and raised in Alabama, Alexa has two grown boys, a daughter in love, and one awesome grandson. She attended Southeastern Bible College and UAB in the field of secondary education. Alexa is also a graduate of Highlands College with an emphasis on human trafficking, women’s ministry, and mission work, which caused her to develop a passion for social justice.
Alexa was the Development Director during the startup phase of another non-profit in the anti-human trafficking space that experienced a lot of success with her help. Alexa has also held many roles in growing businesses. She owned and managed her own distribution company for several years. Alexa also draws from her experience as Major Account Manager for FedEx Kinkos. She handled growing relationships and penetrating sales in named commercial accounts.
Alexa learned the power of developing lasting and profitable business relationships. She recognizes her calling to use these business development skills to generate housing, awareness, education, and fundraising in a ministry capacity to help child survivors of human trafficking. In her earlier anti-trafficking work, she began to see a gap in services for child victims. She spent six months working at the Dream Center and elementary schools in the Woodlawn area as a Highlands College student and quickly recognized the grave need for Blanket Fort Hope.
Alexa founded Blanket Fort Hope in early 2015. She has devoted the last 12 years of her life to helping victims of human trafficking find safety and education, advocating at the state level, and raising awareness. She is dedicated to seeing a place where these children are safe and able to thrive. This place will be a fortress, and its name is Blanket Fort Hope.
Alexa partners with:
- The mandated Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force and END IT Alabama
- The Jefferson County Child Solution Project
- The Child Trafficking Solutions project on education and advocating along with working with Birmingham-metro cities to become a “Trafficking Free Zone”
- Hidden Gems Films
Awards: Alexa is a recipient of an FBI award and the National Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) in recognition of her work with trafficking victims.
Invitation: In Alabama, Blanket Fort Hope is one of the first agencies specifically to provide a safe place for child victims of human trafficking. We acknowledge that the Gospel is foundational to the restoration of these children. Given this, we see it as a great opportunity to partner with the church and like-minded individuals to build a Gospel-centered safe haven where children thrive. We can accomplish this work if you join us in prayer, giving, volunteering, and sharing.
