Laura Johnson
Social Work Supervisor
Laura Johnson is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a heartfelt dedication to combating human trafficking and supporting vulnerable populations.
Laura is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), a credential earned through the completion of an intensive program focused on the bio-psycho-social aspects of traumatic stress, grief, and loss. This certification is specifically designed for mental health professionals who are often the first to respond to individuals affected by traumatic events, such as natural disasters, war, childhood trauma, sexual assault, violent crime, and other forms of trauma.
Holding a Bachelor's in Social Work from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama, Laura has devoted her career to child welfare, focusing on foster care and adoption.
In addition to child welfare, Laura’s experience includes hospital pediatrics, child and adolescent disabilities, complex medical care, and oncology. Laura brings a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by children and families in crisis.
A lifelong resident of Alabama, Laura is a proud Alabama fan (Roll Tide!) and cherishes her time with her husband and family. Together, they are active members of The Church at Old Town in Helena, where they nurture their faith and community ties. As the Social Work Supervisor of Blanket Fort Hope, Laura combines her passion for the hurting with her clinical expertise, creating a safe haven for survivors of human trafficking and fostering hope, healing, and empowerment.
